Megan's Profile
I have been working as a Destination Wedding Specialist since 2004.
My involvement in the travel industry has spanned 24 years, during which time I have
held various roles. My journey began while working with Club Med as a G.O. at the
hotels/villages, and later for the Canadian sales office in Toronto. I then moved
into a Destination Representative role, which enabled me to live in Mexico, Bahamas,
and various places in the Caribbean working for Conquest Vacations and Trans
National Travel (from Boston).
As my travel career progressed, my next role was that of National Inside Sales
Coordinator/Assistant to the Canadian Director for a large chain of resorts in the
Caribbean called SuperClubs, which has properties in Jamaica, Bahamas, Cuba,
Dominican Republic, Brazil and Curacao. Among my many duties, I was responsible for
costing/contracting groups to the tour operators and providing support to travel
agents.
Prior to joining Oceans Travel in 2004, I was employed as Manager of Destination
Services for Air Canada Vacations, managing 22 Caribbean destinations and 87
destination representatives.
In 2004, I decided to fully utilize my extensive travel industry experience to help
my clients, and moved on to an independent role with Oceans Travel.
WHY BOOK WITH ME?
I offer group rates from the major Canadian tour operators, arrange travel
insurance, and provide advice without charging fees (as most agents do). So, what
sets me apart?
- While others may claim to be 'specialists', no-one brings to you 24 years of
such diverse experience in the travel industry as I have outlined above.
- I have established an endless list of contacts that I have developed throughout
the years among tour operators and hotels in your chosen destination. Trust me, you
will find this invaluable (as you've read in my Testimonials section).
- I speak Spanish and French to assist you with any communication difficulties you
may encounter along the way when dealing with your chosen hotel.
- Would you buy a car from someone who has never driven? I think not. Would you book
your destination wedding group with someone who doesn't travel?

Ashley's Profile
There are 2 things I've ever been sure about in life (so far). First is my love of
all things Mexican - this includes my husband Martin! Second is my love of travel.
Acting on this passion, I began my studies and received a diploma in Travel and
Tourism at Sir Sandford Flemming College.
Over the past eight years, I have worked for some amazing companies who taught me
the ins and outs of the travel industry. In July 2005, Signature Vacations offered
me a position in their reservations department. Although I loved the team I worked
with, I felt something was missing...
In September 2006, I accepted a contract position as an Operations Coordinator in
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - something I had always wanted to do but never dreamed
possible. After six months in Mexico, my area manager offered me an extension and
extra positions within the company, including Airport and Hotel Representative. I
was thrilled (and so was my Mexican boyfriend, Martin) to hear I'd be continuing my
adventure in Mexico for another six months!
When it was time to return to Canada, Martin decided he would accompany me and start
a new adventure of his own. A month before we left Mexico, Martin asked me to be his
wife and we knew a destination wedding was in our future!
I continued working with Signature Vacations for another 2 years, first in their
Sales Department and then with hotel contracts in their Product Department - all the
while planning my own destination wedding in Mexico.
During the planning stages of my wedding, I developed of a love for everything
weddings! This was the missing piece of my career puzzle; becoming a Destination
Wedding Planner would be a great way to combine my two loves: travel and wedding
planning!
When the opportunity at Weddings By Oceans came up, I jumped at the chance to make
my career change a reality. I can honestly say that I truly love what I do for a
living. Every day, I look forward to coming to work and helping couples plan the
biggest day of their lives.
